This September 9th is the first World Fencing Day issued by FIE. In order to celebrate this great festival about fencing in China, Chinese fencers initiated an “Online Fencing Carnival”. Within only one day, “#世界击剑日#（WorldFencingDay）” has made into the hot topics of Sina Weibo(Chinese open-platform social media) with over 50 thousand posting and 11 million times of reading.
Fencing as a sport
event was introduced to China in the 1950s. Over the last 60 years’
development, Chinese fencing population now ranks highly in the world. With
over 400 registered clubs and more than 200,000 people practicing fencing,
China’s tremendously rising market of fencing is quite remarkable.
