Terms of Use

The International Fencing Federation (“FIE”), headquartered at Maison du Sport International, Avenue de Rhodanie 54, 1007 Lausanne, Switzerland, operates the following websites: www.fie.org and www.fencingtv.com (collectively referred to as the “Websites”).

These Websites serve as a digital platform for fencing enthusiasts worldwide, providing a wide array of content, including live match broadcasts, event replays, statistics, photo galleries, educational materials, interviews, and the latest news related to the sport of fencing.

1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using the Websites, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and FIE. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree to these Terms, you should not use the Websites.

2. Definitions

  • FIE”: The International Fencing Federation, the governing body that owns and operates the Websites.
  • You”: The individual user accessing or using the Websites.
  • We” / “Us”: Refers to FIE.
  • Registration Services”: Special features made accessible through user registration. These may include ad-free streaming, full-screen access, and on-demand content.
  • Websites”: The platforms located at www.fie.org and www.fencingtv.com.
  • Device”: Any supported computer, smartphone, tablet, or other digital equipment used to access the Websites.
  • Cookies”: Data files stored on your device to improve website functionality and personalize your experience.
  • Personal Information”: Data collected and processed as outlined in our Privacy Policy.
  • Content”: Written articles, photos, live streams, archived videos, interviews, and other fencing-related media.
  • Intellectual Property Rights”: Legal rights protecting FIE’s trademarks, copyrights, and proprietary materials.

3. Access and Usage Requirements

You must have a compatible device with updated operating systems and modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. Users are responsible for maintaining compatibility with FIE platforms. If your system is outdated, the user experience may be limited, and we are not responsible for performance issues caused by unsupported hardware or software.

Cookies are essential for website functionality and are used in accordance with our Privacy Policy. These help us secure, customize, and improve our services.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

By accessing the Websites, you agree to the following:

  • You will not use the Websites to build, offer, or promote competing services.
  • You must respect our Intellectual Property Rights and those of others.

We reserve the right to suspend or discontinue any part of the Websites at any time, without prior notice. This includes changes to services, media libraries, or technical functionality.

6. Account Registration and Security

To use Registration Services, users must create an account by providing accurate and complete information. You are responsible for safeguarding your login credentials and for all activities under your account.

We reserve the right to disable accounts that violate our Terms. If you suspect unauthorized access, contact us immediately at admin@fie.ch.

7. Intellectual Property and Licensing

All content on the Websites, including text, photos, logos, graphics, and videos, is owned by or licensed to FIE. This content is protected by international intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Websites and their content for personal, non-commercial purposes. This license does not grant ownership or proprietary interest in the content.

Content from the FIE gallery may be used by athletes and national federations for promotional, non-commercial purposes, with proper attribution to FIE.

You agree not to reproduce, publish, transmit, or exploit any part of the Websites without express written permission.

User-submitted feedback or ideas are considered non-confidential. By providing suggestions, you allow FIE to use them freely and without compensation.

8. Suspension and Termination of Access

Failure to comply with these Terms may lead to:

  • Formal warnings
  • Suspension or termination of your account
  • Legal action for any damages caused
  • Disclosure to law enforcement, if necessary

We may monitor activity to detect misuse. If suspicious behavior is identified, we may contact you for clarification or take action independently.

Users are encouraged to report misuse via admin@fie.ch. In certain cases, we may restore access if conditions are met and assurances are provided.

9. Limitation of Liability

FIE is not liable for: - Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages - Loss of income, business, or data - Technical interruptions or website errors

We strive to maintain availability and security but cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. All users are encouraged to use updated antivirus software and secure devices.

We are not responsible for the content of third-party websites linked on our platforms. These links do not represent endorsements.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms due to legal changes or service enhancements. Updates will be communicated through the Websites or email. By continuing to use the Websites after an update, you accept the new Terms.

Archived versions of past Terms are available upon request for transparency.

11. Legal Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by Swiss law. All disputes will be handled by Swiss courts unless you are an EU resident, in which case you may also file claims in your country of residence.

Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory consumer rights or prevents you from relying on mandatory laws in your jurisdiction.
