Representing
the more than two thirds of the world’s population, Asia and Oceania together
celebrated World Fencing Day. Officials of the fencing federations in the
two continents led by Fencing Confederation of Asia president CELSO DAYRIT and
Oceania Fencing Confederation president HELEN SMITH jointly celebrated this
auspicious day in Bangkok on September 9, 2017.
Gathering together with the federation officials who met for the FCA General Assembly are the fencers participating in the 3rd Asian Veterans Fencing Championships, the Asian Cadet Circuit saber competition, the Thailand Minime Fencing Championships and the Thailand Open Fencing Championships which were simultaneously held in the Thai capital city of Bangkok.
This is the first such celebration as the FIE recently approve to celebrate World Fencing Day every second Saturday of each year.
