The Limassol Fencing Club, in cooperation with the Cyprus Fencing Federation, hosted the international fencing competition, "Cyprus Talents Cup", in a two-day event from April 28 to 29, at the “Spyros Kyprianou” Sports Center in Limassol.
Since the foundation in 1987, the Cyprus Fencing Federation has been organizing major international competitions with great success, such as the “Aphrodite” satellite World Cup and the International Tournament “Cyprus”, while the Limassol Fencing Club, organizes a kids development tournament, the “Cyprus Talents Cup” held in yearly basis from 2015. In 2017, 65 athletes from 14 countries, including Greece, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria and Russia, participated.
This year’s tournament included the categories U11 and U13 in boys and girls epee on Saturday April, 28 and an open event for men & women epee on Sunday April 29. The event is under the auspices of the Cyprus Sports Organization and was supported by the Cyprus Tourism Organization.
The purpose of the event was to develop and promote fencing, seeking cooperation with fencing clubs and federations around the world, with the aim of further enhancing the skills of their young athletes as well as supporting sports tourism in Cyprus.
In this year’s competition, more than 85 athletes from 11 countries had been entered and the spectacle was unique for the Cypriot viewers.
