Junior Team Epee: 2018 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships – Verona

VERONA, Italy, April 3, 2018—The third day of competition at the 2018 Junior and Cadet Fencing World Championships in Verona, Italy, featured junior men’s and women’s team epee. There were 34 teams competing in the women’s event, and 42 in the men’s, which took place in Verona’s Cattolica Center.

In the junior men’s team epee event, Hungary won the gold medal against France, 45-42, with Italy taking the bronze medal against Israel, 45-30. Notably, the French team was anchored in the final round by the first night’s individual cadet men’s epee champion, Luidgi Midelton, and the Italian team won the bronze match with Davide Di Veroli finishing the match, who took a silver medal in individual cadet men’s epee event and the gold medal last night in individual junior men’s epee.

In the junior women’s team epee competition, Italy took home the gold, winning against Romania in the final round, 45-31. The bronze medal went to Russia, defeating Ukraine, 45-27.

The top eight countries in junior men’s team epee include Hungary (gold), France (silver), Italy (bronze), Israel, Japan, Korea, Czech Republic, and China.

The top eight countries in junior women’s team epee include Italy (gold), Romania (silver), Russia (bronze), Ukraine, Switzerland, France, USA, and Poland.
