FOIL SEMINARS CONTINUE AS PREPARATION FOR THE FIRST EPEE COURSE SET TO BEGIN
For immediate release: 17 February 2021
The EFC “Get Ready For The New Season” referee training seminars continued today with the latest foil training.
Secretary General, Jacek Slupski opened the seminar by welcoming now regular guest, Emmanuel Katsiadakis, the Secretary General of the FIE. Katsiadakis began the seminar by saying, “On behalf of the FIE and our President, Alisher Usmanov, I thank you for the invitation. These seminars have been great so far and I’m sure you will continue the good work. Our thanks to the EFC and its President Stanislav Pozdnyakov for this initiative and also project leaders, Jacek Slupski and Nikolai Mateev. We are also grateful to our expert referee hosts.”
He was referring to EFC Referee Commission Members, Martina Ganassin and Vilem Madr and FIE Referee Florin Gheorghe who led the training. As usual, a practical seminar using videos of recent international matches, was preceded by a theory test.
Katsiadakis added, “There is no doubt that the trainees will gain a lot of knowledge from this team and it will get them ready for when we return to competition.”
The project began last year with training for sabre referees, extending later in 2020 to training for foil referees. Also guesting on today’s seminar were Matthias Henkelmann and Mihail Paghiev, who will lead the epee referee training which is due to begin shortly.
