Is dancing helpful for fencing?
Fencing is a combat sport, whereas dance is an art. Well, Fencing is an art as well. My dance lessons helped me feel the rhythm in fencing. When I fence against a slow competitor, I need to adjust to her. When I fence against a fast competitor, I need to adjust to her as well. That’s why I feel the rhythm and movement.

How important is a competition warm-up?
Warming up is the part I like the least, but obviously its fundamental in order to be ready for the match. It marks the start of your concentration. You start feeling concentrations, positive or otherwise. So it’s a fundamental stage in order to be ready for the piste.

How does your coach help you during a bout?
He’s someone who has winning inside of him, and he inspires me. When he is behind me I want to fight, to excel, and get those victories. Sometimes when I’m in a very difficult situation I succeed with his presence and my desire to win, to really excel.
