TORONTO, Canada, June 30, 2019—USA won gold medals in men’s team sabre and women’s team foil at the 2019 Toronto Pan American Fencing Championships. This was the fourth of six days of individual and team competition, with 17 teams from throughout the Americas participating in the day’s events.
The USA men’s sabre team faced Canada in the gold-medal bout, winning with a 45-37 score. Canada defeated Colombia in the semifinal, 45-29, and USA beat Argentina, 45-21. Argentina took the bronze medal over Colombia, 45-35.
In women’s team foil, the USA scored victory over Canada in the final, 45-42. Canada overcame Brazil in the semifinal round, 45-18, while USA eliminated Chile, 45-19. The bronze medal went to Chile over Brazil, 45-37.
Final ranking for men’s team sabre at the 2019 Pan American Fencing Championships included USA (gold), Canada (silver), Argentina (bronze), Colombia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Venezuela.
For women’s team foil, final ranking included USA (gold), Canada (silver), Chile (bronze), Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia and Peru.
