Following the letter of 11 January 2016, the FIE received requests for material aid from 92 national federations, including 31 for Europe, 24 for Asia, 21 for America, 14 for Africa and 2 for Oceania.
After a thorough analysis of each case, the FIE management decided to adopt the following criteria for allocating the first tranche of material aid to 42 federations (9 for Europe, 12 for Asia, 7 for Africa, 12 for America and 2 for Oceania).
- National federations that did not receive any material aid in 2015 will be given priority in the first part of the 2016 programme;
- Organisation of major events (World Championships, Grand Prix events, continental championships, regional games, Universiades);
- Participation in FIE competitions and continental competitions;
- Established development of fencing in the beneficiary country.
Europe: AUT, BLR, LTU, MDA, MKD, NOR, SVK, ISL, POR,
Asia: BRU, LIB, MAS, YEM, BAN, IRQ, AFG, HKG, MAC, JPN, SYR, KSA
Africa: BUR, CIV, GUI, MAD, LBA, NAM, ALG
America: ARU, BAR, CRC, DOM, ECU, ISV, NCA, URU, PUR, PAR, CHI, BOL,
Oceania: NZL, AUS
The above list of federations will be posted on the FIE website, along with the amount of aid allocated, once the equipment has been sent to its recipients.
For those federations not selected during this first phase, their requests will be re-examined in due course. The results will be made available on the FIE website from 30 October 2016.
