She was born in Milan, Italy, and represented Italy at junior and senior World Cup events. She moved to the United States of America after accepting a scholarship to Penn State University to study pre-medicine and was awarded a green card in 2013 on sporting merit, which made her eligible to represent the United States of America in international competitions.
