Other information DIFFICULT SEASON
He said the 2022/23 season had been challenging but that working with the national coaches, as well as an Italian coach, had helped his fencing. "My results have been encouraging, but not necessarily good. This year [2022/23], I arrived with motivation and I think I progressed at the start of the year thanks to intense training. An Italian coach, Simone Piccini, came from time to time to our training camps. I think it helped me to look at fencing in a new light, in addition to our national coaches. We worked on some new things at the start of the season, and I think it has done me well. [Nevertheless] it was a period when I was not necessarily doing well, I had some self-doubt in competition and training, and when you are not good in training you are not going to get the best results. Lately I have been a replacement [on the men's team], but it's understandable because I haven't been in the best form. I've tried to remain positive and contribute from the bench. The frustration will motivate me for next year. There are between six and eight fencers good enough for [Olympic] selection [in 2024] so I have to be better next season." (actu.fr, 12 Aug 2023)
