When and where did you begin this sport? She began fencing at Takefu Commercial High School in Echizen, Japan.
Why this sport? She competed in swimming while she was in primary school, and then took up badminton after starting middle school. Later she was encouraged to try fencing by one of her neighbours, who was already involved in the sport.
