Why this sport? Her father and her grandmother practised the sport. She was also inspired by watching Alessandro Puccini win gold in individual foil at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Her younger sister Camilla has also competed in the sport, and was part of the Italian squad that won bronze in team epee at the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
