Help the Planet, Win a Medal!

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, September 2019—Want to win an FIE 105th Anniversary Commemorative medal? With a theme of “Fencing for our Planet”, Saturday, September 7 is 2019 FIE World Fencing Day, and the FIE will award a medal for getting involved and using the #FencingforourPlanet hashtag. The FIE has pledged to inspire and enable its members, directly benefiting people and our environment, implementing acts of good works in the community alongside sustainability principles in day-to-day operations. We want you to take part and WIN!

How to Participate. Do humanitarian and sustainable deeds for the good of Planet Earth and tell the world! There are many ways you can help, such as offering refillable water-bottle stations at your fencing club; going with some teammates to an orphanage or a senior assisted-living home to visit, help with activities and even give a fencing demonstration; work with local officials to provide free transportation for anyone attending fencing tournaments; gather some fencers together to clean a beach, plant a tree, or recycle roadside waste; or visit a disadvantaged youth program and introduce them to fencing.

Post stories of your good deeds – with photos, please! – on FIE social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instgram), use the #FencingforourPlanet hashtag, and you will be entered automatically into a drawing to win an FIE 105th Anniversary Commemorative medal. More than one may be awarded!

About World Fencing Day. On World Fencing Day, taking place annually on Saturday of the second weekend in September, Olympic and World Championship athletes, local fencing clubs, national fencing federations and fencing coaches all join to demonstrate fencing in their regions. A significant number of the FIE’s 153 member federations from every corner of the planet engage in a variety of activities, and federations, clubs, athletes, individuals, manufacturers and fans who love fencing all join in the festivities.
