Junior men's foil World Cup in Tijuana

TIJUANA, Baja California – The individual event in the Cadet and Junior Foil World Cup ended with Mexico dominating at the podium.

Mexico achieved a 1-2-3 and shared the third place with Argentina, after a long day which began at about 10 in the morning and ended at around 7 in the evening.

José Narvaez Paliza took the gold medal, after beating his compatriot Héctor Covarrubias 15-14 in the grand finale. The bronze medals went to Diego Cervantes, from Baja California, and the Argentinian, Erik Gabriel Varas.

Narvaez competed against Cervantes in the semi-final, and won 15-11, while Covarrubias won the other semi-final against the Argentinian, Varas, beating his opponent 7-6 after a time-consuming, closely fought bout.

The first eight places were taken by: NARVAEZ (MEX), COVARRUBIAS (MEX), VARAS (ARG), CERVANTES (MEX), KELLY (USA), MARIN (MEX), CHUNG (USA), WONG (USA).
