Highlights from the Men’s and Women’s epee World Cup – Tallinn – Nanjing

The men’s epee event was held in Tallinn, Estonia and saw Japan’s Kazuyasu Minobe defeat his compatriot Satoru Uyama 15-8.

The world’s number one and two epee fencers, Grumier Gauthier of France and Garozzo Enrico of Italy, took the bronze medals.

France came out on top in the men's epee team event. In a close encounter, they beat Italy 45-40, with the bronze medal going to Switzerland after they beat Ukraine 45-41.

The women’s epee events, held in Nanjing, China, saw Romania’s Ana Maria Popescu take the victory in the women’s event against Besbes Sarra of Tunisia by securing the individual event.

Ana Maria edged out her rival by 15 hits to 10, with the bronze medal places taken by Korea’s Shin A Lam and Embrich Irina of Estonia.

In the women’s epee team event, Russia beat Korea 34-30 in the final match, with USA taking the bronze medal after beating China 36-32.
