Norwegian Fencing Club is Seeking a Main Coach (Maître d'Armes)

Njård fencing, in Oslo Norway, one of the leading Nordic fencing clubs, is looking for a main coach (Maître d' Armes) with skills in epée. The main task is to develop the club further, both in activity level and in results. The right person will have a mandate to manage the club and develop, train, lead and secure the sport offering for fencers in all ages, supported by assistant coaches.

Our club has a strong national position, but is looking to move up to a leading club at the Nordic and European level in terms of professionalism and results. We want as well to expand activity level from early age, both for girls and boys to men and women to establish strong teams across the ages. The club has 160 members and is the owner of the clubs fencing hall and facilities. Njård is several times Norwegian and Nordic champion in team epée fencing.

We are there for looking for a main coach with a drive to succeed and demonstrate results. We will be looking for the following attributes:

  • Documented own personal results at top international level in epée either as fencer or as a coach
  • Documented ability to lead, motivate and develop young fencers
  • Strong administrative skills in running a fencing club
  • Communications skills in English
  • Capacity to plan and cooperate with the club’s board
  • Interest and care for club member’s development
  • Ability to develop the club as a business
  • Natural authority and leadership skills
  • The right person would be offered a multiyear contract with conditions with bonus depending on results.
