Mariel Zagunis grabbed gold in the Women’s individual event after convincingly beating Korea’s Seo Jiyeon by 15 touches to 8. The bronze medal went to Italy’s Rossella Gregorio and to France’s Manon Brunet.

In Men’s individual event, Alexey Yakimenko, world champion in Fencing World Chamopionships Moscow 2015, edged out his Romanian rival Tiberiu Dolniceanu by 15 to 8. The third place took Germany’s Nicolas Limbach and Ukraine’s Andriy Yagodka.
