Anticipation rising for FIE Senior Fencing World Championships with 1 month to go

Today marks one month to go to the FIE Senior Fencing World Championships 2026 and the excitement is truly building!

Scheduled to take place in Hong Kong, China from 22 to 30 July, the 85th edition of the flagship event promises to be an unforgettable display of global fencing talent. Watch the promotional video here.

Over nine days, more than 1,000 of the world’s best fencers will compete in 12 individual and team events across epee, foil and sabre at the AsiaWorld-Expo, one of the world’s premier venues for exhibitions and entertainment.

In addition to the prestige of being crowned World Champion, the athletes will also vie for a total prize purse of over USD 1 million the International Fencing Federation (FIE) will award to individual and team medallists who reach the medals podium.

Co-organised by the Fencing Association of Hong Kong, China (FAHKC), this will be the first Senior World Championships held in the special administrative region.

Hong Kong enjoys a distinguished history in the sport of fencing, with recent wins at the world’s top competitions adding to its stature in the sport.

Paris 2024 Olympic Epee Champion (Man Wai) Vivian Kong has retired, but local fencing enthusiasts still have plenty of elite hometown heroes to cheer for. Reigning Men’s Individual Foil Senior World Champion Chun Yin Ryan Choi, double Olympic Foil Champion Ka Long Cheung, and double World University Games Epee Champion Kaylin Sin Yan Hsieh are all preparing to shine on home soil.
