Press Release: FIE releases FIE Centennial movie series

Budapest, 9 August 2013 – On the occasion of its’ 100 anniversary, the International Fencing Federation (FIE) has released the three part movie series “En Garde”.

All parts run 26 minutes each and showcase the FIE’s and fencing’s rich heritage. They draw upon the sport’s constant presence at the Olympic Games since their rebirth in Athens in 1896, and highlight both the greats of the past as well as the current heroes, male and female, who continue to inspire Olympic audiences to this current day.

The movies also reflect on the FIE’s commitment to growing the sport as widely as possible internationally and also to ensure a healthy future for fencing by developing programmes to encourage its uptake by young sportsmen and women all around the world.

From today on, the three movies are available for everyone on the Fencing Channel on YouTube at www.youtube.com/fencing. In October 2013, the FIE will publish the movies on a limited collector’s edition DVD.

The mini-series was produced by IMG Production, a division of IMG Worldwide, the global sports, fashion and media company, and is a result of the FIE’s collaboration with IMG

Consulting concerning PR activities around the FIE centennial.
