He was ranked #1 in the United States as of February 2018, and #3 in the world as of April 2018. He was the youngest saber fencer among the world’s top 25.

Race Imboden (born April 17, 1993 in Tampa, Florida) is an American foil fencer and menswear fashion model. A three-time Pan American champion, he took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics and won a team silver medal in the 2013 World Fencing Championships.

In the 2014–15 season Imboden made the quarter-finals in the San Francisco World Cup and proceeded to win gold at the Prince Takamada World Cup in Tokyo . He posted a third place in the Trofeo Inalpi in Turin, Italy. In January 2015 he achieved a double gold at the Challenge International de Paris: he became the first American to win the individual event then earned a second gold medal in the team event. Imboden then took a bronze medal in the Havana Grand Prix. Few weeks later he earned the gold medal at the 2015 Pan American Championships in Santiago, his third individual Pan American title.

Sofiya Velikaya (born 8 June 1985) is a Russian sabre fencer, silver medal at the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games and gold medal in the 2012 and 2015 World Fencing Championships. She is also Olympic champion in team (2016) and four-time World team champion (2004, 2010, 2011, and 2012). Velikaya began fencing at the age of 13 after her elder brother took up the sport.
