When and where did you begin this sport? She took up fencing at age nine, and began competing a year later.
Why this sport? "As a child I practised different sports. My parents, who saw [Italian sabre fencer] Aldo Montano's gold [at the 2004 Games in Athens], asked me to try fencing because they knew that there was a gym nearby. So, I showed up there and they put me on the sabre. It was torture at first wearing all the equipment. It was very heavy, and hard to breathe with the mask on. My parents forced me to continue because at the time they had bought all the equipment, and luckily in hindsight they didn't think about reselling everything and making me change sports."

Sporting philosophy / motto "For every athlete there is a moment in which you go into 'combat mode', releasing the tension before the match and storing energy. It happens to me while I fix the ponytail in my hair. I focus before stepping onto the piste." (gazzetta.it, 07 Jun 2022)
