When and where did you begin this sport? She joined a fencing club at age nine having swum for four years previously. "My parents wanted me to swim. At first I really liked it, but in the end I got a little bored, so I started thinking about switching."
Why this sport? Her grandmother suggested her left-handedness could be an advantage in fencing. "I fell in love with fencing right away, the whole environment captivated me. I didn't even really know what fencing was. I was a little afraid, but everyone was good and open. I got a lot of praise from the beginning, so it soon became clear that I would stay in fencing. Because of my explosiveness, my coach recommended I try sabre."
