When and where did you begin this sport? He began fencing in 1991 after watching the sport on television. His mother then enrolled him at a club in Henin-Beaumont, France, where the instructor made him take up foil.
Why this sport? "I fell in love with the sport thanks to my first master at arms, Fabrice Van Hems. The CE Henin-Beaumont club made me who I am today. At my first big junior international competition, in Germany, I got a taste for elite competition. That day I said to myself, 'One day I hope to become an Olympic champion'."
