Other information COLLEGIATE FENCING
In 2018 he began studying for a degree in mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University in the United States of America. He decided to take a break from his studies in the 2019/20 season to prepare for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he placed seventh in the men's individual foil. "[During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020], it was very difficult. I had to stay focused with a lot of individual training and not lose track of my goals because we did not have any competitions that year. But when I look back now [speaking in 2021], I think it boosted my mentality when I got to the Olympics. A different level of drive and motivation came out in me that I never realised existed before. Princeton Fencing will forever have a place in my heart. The impact that this team has had on me is like no other." ENGINEERING INTERNSHIP
In 2020 he undertook an internship at Alu Afric, an Egyptian engineering company. "I enjoyed seeing the theories we learn about [at university] put into real-world applications. It was interesting to see all different types of engineers involved in the process and how they all relied on each other to produce the final product. As engineers, we build and innovate as a team. If we fail, we fix it together and eventually we succeed." (mae.princeton.edu, 01 Nov 2021; LinkedIn profile, 15 May 2023)
