Sport Specific Information

Why this sport? He followed in his father's footsteps. "Both family traditions and living a five-minute walk away from Primary School No. 70 in Gdansk, where many great fencers have been developed, certainly helped. The most important thing, however, was that I liked fencing from the very beginning. I still enjoy it, I still want to develop and achieve success."

Sporting philosophy / motto "Fencing is really for everyone. You definitely have to be brave and unyielding. There is also no rule as to what physical conditions are most appropriate. Besides, I believe that being a fencer helps in everyday life. You learn organisation, how to deal with various situations and make quick decisions." (dziennikbaltycki.pl, 07 Dec 2021)

Famous relatives His father Cezary Siess was part of the Poland squad that won bronze in the team foil event at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. He had competed in epee at the 1988 Games in Seoul. (SportsDeskOnline, 15 Apr 2021; naszemiasto.pl, 13 May 2002)

Ambitions To compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. (dziennikbaltycki.pl, 07 Dec 2021)

Other information TRAINING IN ITALY
During the 2020/21 season he began to split his training between Poland and Italy. "During the COVID-19 pandemic it became obvious that there would not be many competitions taking place, so you had to train while waiting patiently for the competitions to start. For this reason I decided to move close to Rome, to Frascati Scherma, in my opinion the best foil club in the world today. Sparring with very good fencers, it was definitely easier to stay motivated to train through this difficult time." (dziennikbaltycki.pl, 07 Dec 2021)

FATHER'S SUPPORT
His father Cezary Siess was part of the Poland squad that won bronze in the team foil event at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. "He has never been a coach, but he often gives me tips. However, it happens outside the gym, rather quietly at home. These are usually comments on how to act during a bout and on tactics. He does not interfere with my technique. If he is in the hall during a competition, he plays the role of a fan." (dziennikbaltycki.pl, 07 Dec 2021)

ROLE
In December 2022 he was elected to the athletes' council of the Polish Fencing Federation. (Facebook profile, 16 Dec 2022)
