When and where did you begin this sport? At age eight he stopped playing other sports to pursue fencing at the Al-Selah Al-Sakandry club in Alexandria, Egypt.

Why this sport? He did not like the combat aspect of karate and felt swimming was too difficult. He loved fencing. "It's a sport that depends on intelligence and technique, not only on force."

He announced his retirement from competitive fencing in January 2024 before reversing his decision one month later with a view to competing at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. "After participating in the 2023 World Championships in Milan, I felt a lot of pressure and was in dire need of a rest period, whether on a psychological or physical level, due to my recurring injury. After I completely moved away from the sport and after taking an appropriate period of physical and psychological rest, I reconsidered, so I decided to return to training gradually and evaluate my level.
