Sport Specific Information

When and where did you begin this sport? She began fencing at age 10.

Why this sport? "My club was mostly good at epee, and I started to win competitions, so I kept going."

Club / Team Beauvais ACA:

Name of coach Emmanuel Mortecrette [club]

Training Regime In 2017 she made the decision to leave the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance [INSEP] in Paris. She still takes part in sparring sessions with national teammates at INSEP each week, but does her own physical preparation training as well as regular fencing training under Emmanuel Mortecrette at the Beauvais ACA club. "In 2016 I was often injured and the training load at INSEP didn't suit me. It wasn't tailored enough to individuals. The following year I decided to leave, and enlisted a personal physical preparation coach."

Other information BEATING THE BEST
She had never finished higher than 12th at an international senior competition before winning her first World Cup gold in March 2019 in the People's Republic of China. "I am naturally someone who gets stressed easily, so I'm trying not to get too wrapped up or distracted by it. People may expect more of me now and that adds pressure. I must focus on the next competition and forget that I won the last." (lesportaufeminin.fr, 27 Mar 2019)

END OF THE ROAD IN TOKYO
She believes the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo will mark the end of her fencing career. "Tokyo [2020] is the final, ultimate objective. Mixing sport with work and studies requires enormous sacrifices. At age 27 [in 2020] I think it will be time to put away the swords. We will see what I will do after. Maybe I will remain in the world of fencing. But one thing is certain, Tokyo will be my last challenge." (lesportaufeminin.fr, 27 Mar 2019)

OCCUPATION
She is studying psychology and hopes to become a school teacher. In addition to studying and training she also works as a nanny. (leparisien.fr, 25 Mar 2019)
