When and where did you begin this sport? She began fencing at age five in Livorno, Italy.
Why this sport? She took up the sport as rehabilitation after she broke her right arm at age five. "I underwent surgery that went wrong, which could have compromised my nerve. So I began this sport and immediately I became passionate about it. For me, fencing is like playing a war. I have always had this will of fighting myself, competing. Fencing allowed me to do it on a piste. And it seems that I'm good at it. When I have tried to change the approach and give fencing another meaning, it did not work well for me."
