When and where did you begin this sport? He took up the sport in grade 10 of high school.
Why this sport? He played football at primary school and middle school, but he wanted to try other sports in high school. A teacher who was in charge of a fencing team suggested the sport to him, so he got involved in foil. He became unhappy with his results in foil, so he switched to sabre when he was a student at Hosei University in Tokyo, Japan.
