The 2015 FIE Congress will take place on 21st November in Guangzhou, China

Lausanne, 09 November 2015

The annual Congress of the International Fencing Federation will make decisions about the host cities of the 2018 Senior World Championships, 2018 Veterans’ World Championships as well as the 2017 Cadet and Junior World Championships.

Highlight points on the agenda for this year’s Congress include:

  • Host cities for 2018 Senior World Championships, 2018 Veterans’ World Championships as well as the 2017 and 2018 Cadet and Junior World Championships.
  • Budget for 2016
  • Propositions on changes in FIE statutes and FIE rules
  • Reports of Commissions and Councils
  • Award of the Challenge Chevalier Feyerick

123out of 150 National Federations have enrolled for the Congress and more than 213 people are expected to participate. During the annual FIE Gala Dinner in Guangzhou, the 2015 top ranked junior and senior fencers will be honoured. They will each receive the FIE golden medal.

“Fencing will keep working hard to continue the initiatives which have been established over the past years. FIE will support all the National Federations and will try to increase its memberships around the world, making sure that FIE raises standards in fencing around the world. It is crucial that we improve the image of fencing and take greater steps to advance the sport ahead the Olympics in Rio. FIE is pleased to organize the FIE Congress and fencing competitions in China. We must work together to reach our ambitious goals and I count on the support of the whole fencing community to achieve this,” said Mr. Usmanov.
