Press Release: Ticketing for the 2013 Fencing World Championships starts tomorrow

Lausanne, 30 April 2013 – The ticketing for the 2013 Fencing World Championships in Budapest (5 - 12 August 2013) starts on 1 May 2013. The tickets will be available on the website of the world championships at http://fencing2013.hu/en/ in cooperation with Ticket Express.

A daily ticket will cost 3500 HUF (around 12 EUR), walking tickets valid for the qualifiers will be at 1200 HUF (around 4 EUR), while tickets for the finals will go for 2900 HUF (around 10 EUR). Weekly passes are available for 23,400 HUF (around 78 EUR).

The Organising Committee of the world championships is going innovative ways in the promotion of the event, as was announced at the opening press conference of the campaign on Monday, 29 April, in Budapest. The campaign is called “Just Like in the Movies” and aims at showing “through parallels with cinematic history in the coming months that fencing can indeed be highly enjoyable. Our goal is to reach the widest sports-loving audiences with the news of the World Fencing Championships” said Bálint Vékássy, Chair of the Budapest 2013 Organising Committee.

In the same press conference several Hungarian top fencers were present, among them Aron Szilágyi, Olympic Champion 2012 in men’s sabre and winner of the world cup in Athens (GRE) last Saturday. He said this day had been a great day for him and that he will also be in shape for the world championships. He expects tough duels for the gold, especially with the fencers from Italy.

Media accreditation for the event will open on 15 May.
