Sport Specific Information

When and where did you begin this sport? She began fencing at age 10 at the ZKS Sosnowiec club in Poland.

Why this sport? One of her teachers at primary school was also a fencing coach, and he encouraged her to try the sport. "Fencing impressed me. There is more to it than just motor skills. The tactics and thinking are also important. This sport just charmed me, it was different and intriguing."

Other information MEDAL AUCTION
In 2019 she put her gold medal from the 2015 European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan up for auction to raise money for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, due to a lack of sponsors. "It's a sentimental moment for me, but I know that it's worth it, because if I don't then I might have to give up on fencing. It's not just a medal. It's something that has huge meaning for me. There are a lot of emotions tied to this medal, it was the crown on top of all my hard work." Her friends started a campaign raising funds to support her, which allowed her to keep the medal. COUNCILLOR
She has served as a councillor in Bedzin County, Poland. "When I saw the problems in my village, I immediately began to wonder how I could remedy them. The election was not just my idea, I was approached by a few people. Having a recognisable face can help too. When I was dealing with the election, I was training differently. I spent more time in the sports hall and wanted to return to it as much as possible. There are people who are resting in front of the TV, and I prefer to help others. I'm not a person who likes to sit on my butt and get bored. I am not afraid that my sport will end up in the background. I feel that since I do more things, sport helps me even more." CHARITY WORK
In 2019 and 2020 she launched charity calendars featuring Polish sportspeople and celebrities to support the 'Karmimy Psiaki' [We Feed Dogs] initiative in Poland. "I hope that we will build a greater awareness of the problem. Many animals have nowhere to go, there are very few shelters, and the conditions are not enough. There are many homeless dogs, but we probably are not fully aware of the scale of the problem." In 2021 she released another charity calendar supporting Greenpeace.
