General Interest

Hobbies Playing tennis. (vkonline.ru, 03 Mar 2016)
Injuries She suffered from an Achilles injury during the 2016 World Cup in Dijon, France, where she won bronze in the individual epee event. (vkonline.ru, 03 Mar 2016; fie.org, 17 Jan 2016)
Famous relatives Her father played volleyball for Ukraine. (francogalil.com, 12 Jan 2013)
Other information NATIONALITY SWITCH
Originally from Ukraine, she moved to Israel at age five after her parents received jobs there as doctors. In September 2013 she moved with her family from Israel to Samara, Russian Federation, after her father received a new job there. She subsequently switched nationality from Israel to represent Russian Federation in 2014. "My family decided on Samara as they knew one of the Russian coaches from there, but initially it was suppose to be in St. Petersburg. I could not compete for almost a whole season, because I did not have citizenship and a residency permit." (vkonline.ru, 25 Mar 2014; russian.rt.com, 19 Sep 2013)

FORGOTTEN PANTS
Before she contested the individual epee event at the 2015 World Cup in Laupheim, Germany, she realised before it began that she forgot to pack pants to compete. After her coach quickly went out and bought a new pair, she went on to win gold. "I forgot to pack a pair of sports pants heading to Germany, thankfully my coach bought a new pair and I won." (vkonline.ru, 03 Mar 2016; fie.org, 17 Oct 2015)

MISSING NATIONAL ANTHEM
At the 2009 U17 European Cup in Austria, officials misplaced the Israeli national anthem for the awards ceremony. Komarova won bronze at the tournament and was alongside fellow Israeli Dana Stralinkov on the podium, who had won gold. After a short silence, the two athletes sang the national anthem on their own without a backing track. (jta.org, 17 Nov 2009; forward.com, 18 Nov 2009)
