Help in equipment 2017
Out of 151 National Federations, 97 applied for equipment within the Material Aid program 2017 of the FIE. The continental confederations recommended an additional 5 national federations.
When evaluating the requests the following main criteria were taken into special consideration:
- The National Federations that organise World Championships, Zonal Championships, Grand Prix or other FIE competitions were given priority;
- The efforts of the National Federations that are active in participating at FIE competitions were also appreciated, and the ones actively working to develop fencing in their countries.
In total, 100 National Federations will receive equipment:
Europe (33 Federations): Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey.
Asia (21 Federations): Bahrain, Bangladesh, Brunei, Cambodia, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Macao, Mongolia, Nepal, Singapore, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, UAE, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.
Americas (24 Federations) : Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Uruguay, US Virgin Islands, Venezuela.
Africa (20 Federations): Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Libya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Morocco, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda.
Oceania (2 Federations): Australia, New Zealand.
At the Junior & Cadet World Championships in Plovdiv (BUL) and the Senior World Championships in Leipzig (GER), a few athletes of the FIE training camp from other National Federations than the ones listed above received some equipment: Bolivia, Qatar, Peru, Antigua and Barbuda.
Each Federation will be contacted individually by the FIE Sport Department that will indicate the exact equipment amount granted (shipping cost included).
